The Pythagorean theorem is a^2 +b^2=c^2
In the first example you have to find the length of the hypotenuse( it is opposite of the 90 degrees)
9^2+12^2=c^2
81+144=c^2
225=c^2
(Use a calculator to find the square root of 225)
c=15
