Ms. Jenkins bought 24 Texans tickets for $83. Adult tickets cost $5.50 and children's tickets cost $2.00. How many of each did she buy?

Answer:

Let x represent the number of adult tickets ⇒24-x would be the number of child tickets

$5.50x + $2.00(24-x) = $83

$3.50x = $35

x = 35/3.5 = 10 adult tickets and 14 child tickets    24 - 10 = 14
